Tupac Dear Momma Lyrics

You are appreciated

When I was a youngin' and ma mama had me

Seventeen years old kicked out on the streets

Though back at the time, I never thought I'd see her face

Ain't a woman alive that could take my mama's place

Suspended from school and scared to go home, I was a fool

With the big boys, breakin' all the rules

I shed tears with my baby sister

Over the years we was poorer than the other little kids

And even though we had different daddy's, the same drama

When things went wrong we'd blame mama

I reminisce on the stress I caused, it was hell

Huggin' on my mama from a jail cell and high school elementary?

Hey, I see the penitentiary, one day

And runnin' from the police, that's right

Mama catch me, put a whoopin' to my backside

And even as a crack theme, mama

You always was a black queen, mama

I finally understand for a woman it ain't easy

Tryin' to raise a man you always was committed

A poor single mother on welfare, tell me how ya did it

There's no way I can pay you back

But the plan is to show you that I understand you are appreciated

Lady, don't cha know we love ya? Sweet lady

Dear mama, place no one above ya, sweet lady

You are appreciated, don't cha know we love ya?

Now ain't nobody tell us it was fair

No love from my daddy 'cause the coward wasn't there

He passed away and I didn't cry, cause my anger

Wouldn't let me feel for a stranger

They say I'm wrong and I'm heartless, but all along

I was lookin' for a father he was gone

I hung around with the Thugs, and even though they sold drugs

They showed a young brother love

I moved out and started really hangin'

I needed money of my own so I started shaggin'

I ain't guilty 'cause, even though I sell rocks

It feels good puttin' money in your mailbox

I love payin' rent when the rent's due

I hope ya got the diamond necklace that I sent to you

'Cause when I was low you was there for me

And never left me alone because you cared for me

And I could see you comin' home after work late

You're in the kitchen tryin' to fix us a hot plate

Ya just workin' with the scraps you was given

And mama made miracles every thanksgivin'

But now the road got rough, here alone

You're tryin' to raise two bad kids on your own

And there's no way I can pay you back

But my plan is to show you that I understand you are appreciated

Lady, don't cha know we love ya? Sweet lady

And dear mama place no one above ya, sweet lady

You are appreciated, don't cha know we love ya?

Pour out some liquor and I reminisce, 'cause through the drama

I can always depend on my mama

And when it seems that I'm hopeless

You say the words that can get me back in focus

When I was sick as a little kid

To keep me happy there's no limit to the things you did

And all my childhood memories

Are full of all the sweet things you did for me

And even though I act crazy

I gotta thank the Lord that you made me

There are no words that can express how I feel

You never kept a secret, always stayed real

And I appreciate, how you raised me

And all the extra love that you gave me

I wish I could take the pain away

If you can make it through the night there's a brighter day

Everything will be alright if ya hold on

It's a struggle everyday, gotta roll on

And there's no way I can pay you back

But my plan is to show you that I understand you are appreciated

Lady, don't cha know we love ya? Sweet lady

And dear mama place no one above ya, sweet lady

You are appreciated, don't cha know we love ya?

Sweet lady, and dear mama

Dear mama, lady, lady, lady

ARTIST Spotlight @sdotpdotdesigns

If you've never had the oppurtunity of knowing one of those creative, in there own spirits type of people I erge you to check out media designer S.Pelt! He shoots shum of the Most Rad, visuals to date. The Arkansas native, Alabama raised current NYC resident brings out the  Dopeness in creative visuals. Not only have I had the pleasure of working with him, he also took time out to anwser a few questions for me.

What exactly is it that you do?
S.Pelt:
I like to call myself a media designer. I offer design through multiple mediums of media. Ha. Also offering marketing and branding

Where are you from?

S.Pelt:
I was born in Arkansas but Alabama raised me.

How long have you been directing?

S.Pelt: 2009

Why did you decide to get into directing? Was there someone who inspired you to get into directing?

S.Pelt: I honestly got into it all out of necessity. My brother who is an artist in the Huntsville hip hop community (shouts Dizzy D) was in a group that was lacking some type of visual marketing and at the time I had an opportunity to do more to help. Around that same time I had a conversation with the manager of a well known and respected group from Huntsville and he put me on the idea of DIY (Do It Yourself). I credit that shift in thought with really putting me on the path to where I am now. Moving to New York City feed into my "drive to basket mentality" perfectly. I guess the artist came out that I didn't even know was there. Haha.

What advice do you have or what would you say to someone who wants to get into directing?

S.Pelt: Sacrifice! You're gonna have to sacrifice some of the things in life that you enjoy to be successful. Especially if you don't have any higher education in the field you're pursuing, but then that makes it all a double edge sword because why are you living if you not living?! Right? Eternal, internal struggle mane smh...

Have you ever encountered someone who had absolutely no talent? And did you have to break it to them?

S.Pelt: I guess we were all given some kinda mutant powers. So I guess it would be a matter of talented in what? I can say I enjoy working with anybody of any skill level who has a vision and is willing to work hard.

What is your philosophy on the profession of filming?

S.Pelt: Always implement what you've learned from previous projects and apply it to the next project. Growth.

What do you enjoy doing when your not working?

S.Pelt: Ha that's a loaded question! I'm always working on something! But when I do get a chance to shake loose, I live in NYC so I'm either trying to find a pretty girl or grabbing some good food.

Name shum artist you have worked with that have gone on or are becoming very successful.

S.Pelt: Luckily I've had the opportunity to work on the ground floor of a few artist careers so we'll see.

How do you come up shum of your visuals and concepts?

S.Pelt: I usually elevate and then marinate on an artist music or the profile of whomever I'm working with. I really try to create something that gives a personal connection to the client.

What are your future plans? Where do you see yourself in a year or two?

S.Pelt: I just wanna continue to build and grow as a person and professional without giving myself away. In 2 years I definitely see myself as a recognizable brand in my field and the movement.

What's your motto on life?

S.Pelt: Transition through life with a bold new approach....s.pelt

Where can the readers find your work?

S.Pelt: Www.sdotpdotdesigns.com

How can customers get in contact with you professionally and socially via social networks?

S.Pelt: Pretty much anything with @ in it @sdotpdotdesigns

Email: s.pelt@yahoo.com

Janelle Monae Q.U.E.E.N Lyrics

"Q.U.E.E.N."

(feat. Erykah Badu)

I cant believe I love the things they say about me

Walk in the room they throwing shade left to right

They be like ooh, she's so fun face

And I just tell em, cut me up, and get down

They call us dirty 'cuz we break all your rules down

And we just came to act a fool, is that all right (Girl, that's alright)

They be like Ooh, let them eat cake

But we eat wings and throw them bones on the ground

Am I a freak for dancing around? (queen)

Am I a freak for getting down? (queen)

I'm coming up, don't cut me down

Yeah I wanna be, wanna be

Is it peculiar that she twerk in the mirror?

And am I weird to dance alone late at night?

And is it true we're all insane?

And I just tell 'em No we ain't" and get down

I heard this life is just a play with no rehearsal

I wonder will this be my final act tonight

And tell me what's the price of fame?

Am I a sinner with my skirt on the ground?

Am I a freak for dancing around?

Am I a freak for getting down?

I'm coming up, don't cut me down

Yeah I wanna be

Hey brother can you save my soul from the devil?

Say is it weird to like the way she wear her tights?

And is it rude to wear my shades?

Am I a freak because I love watching Mary? (Maybe)

Hey sister am I good enough for your heaven?

Say will your God accept me in my black and white?

Will he approve the way I'm made?

Or should I reprogram the programming and get down?

Even if it makes others uncomfortable

I wanna love who I am

Even if it makes other uncomfortable

I will love who I am

Dance 'til the break of dawn

Don't mean a thing, so duh

I can't take it no more

Baby, we in tuxedo groove

Monae and E. Badu

Crazy in the black and white

We got the drums so tight

Baby, here comes the freedom song

Too strong we moving on

Baby there's melody

Show you another way

This joints for fight unknown

Come home and sing your song

But you gotta testify

Because the booty don't lie

No, no, the booty don't lie

Oh no, the booty don't lie

Yeah

Yeah, Let's flip it

I don't think they understand what I'm trying to say

I asked a question like this

"Are we a lost generation of our people?

Add us to equations but they'll never make us equal.

She who writes the movie owns the script and the sequel.

So why ain't the stealing of my rights made illegal?

They keep us underground working hard for the greedy,

But when it's time pay they turn around and call us needy.

My crown too heavy like the Queen Nefertiti

Gimme back my pyramid, I'm trying to free Kansas City.

Mixing masterminds like your name Bernie Grundman.

Well I'm gonna keep leading like a young Harriet Tubman

You can take my wings but I'm still goin' fly

And even when you edit me the booty don't lie

Yeah, keep singing and I'mma keep writing songs

I'm tired of Marvin asking me, "What's Going On?

March to the streets 'cuz I'm willing and I'm able

Categorize me, I defy every label

And while you're selling dope, we're gonna keep selling hope

We rising up now, you gotta deal you gotta cope

Will you be electric sheep?

Electric ladies, will you sleep?

Or will you preach?"

Cold War

To Make purposeful this Life, even in the Darkness I seek Light. In My soul, deep within I feel a great discomfort. As an artist I have a responsibility, not be selfish. To be aware and becoming aware more and more each day a great depression can take place. To turn around and face facts address the past and look at where you came from, who raised you, your traditions ect. I am so covered in junk, I feel gross, I feel, No hope-less. I cry, ready for the old me to die ten times over. I feel like quick sand is the ground beneath me. This world is black and white, day and night. ~Tuffy
